Pähni forest study trail (3 km)
Võru County, Haanja–Karula Recreation Area
The trail starts and ends at Pähni Visitor Centre. The forest landscape here is characterised by small wetland areas and the curvy flooded meadow. Most forests are old fresh boreal forests. Their condition is quite natural and therefore they possess diverse biota. A quite wanderer may easily meet a wild animal, birds will accompany you anyway. Also, the forest is rich in insects. There are 15 points of interest along the trail.

Driving directions | On Võru–Valga road (Road no. 67), 30 km from Võru, turn left at the Matsi junction (when coming from Valga, turn right 50 km from Valga, follow the sign “RMK Pähni külastuskeskus 6”). Drive 6 km to Pähni village. The first building to the left of the road before the Pähni stream is Pähni Visitor Centre, the trail starts at the Visitor Centre. |
